Enjoy an illustrated talk which will reveal some of Britain’s most exquisite pieces of crewel work and embroidery collections currently on display in its castles, country houses and museums.

There will be an opportunity to meet and speak with the Stitchers to discover more about the work and the inspiration behind it. Take the opportunity to view some of the other lavishly embroidered textiles and the various skills and techniques involved in producing them, such as the range of stitching styles and processes of dyeing wool.

BA Embroidery students at Manchester Metropolitan University’s School of Art & Design, have used the historic beds located at Staircase House, Bramall Hall and Stockport’s Air Raid Shelters as inspiration for a project based on sleep. The culmination of their work forms an intriguing trail around all three venues which exhibits the research, thought processes and final creations to provide an interesting and contemporary interpretation of historic buildings.

The Combined Ticket can be used during usual opening hours and is not time limited. However it cannot be used for entry into special events.
