Local History KS 2
Visit this outstanding House and gain an understanding of how Staircase House reflects Stockport’s history. A ‘hands on’ approach in the morning can be combined with an afternoon Town Trail, linking the House and the Historic market area, or a visit to the newly opened Stockport Story Museum galleries.
The Great Fire of London KS1
An interactive half or full day session which enables the children to re-enact the events of the Fire of London within the house. ‘Hands on’ activities are incorporated and the session can be combined with a Town Trail in the afternoon, linking the House and the Historic market area. Alternatively you can choose two of the following options to customise your afternoon visit: The history of fire marks, the plague or wattle and daub. Coming soon – the history of the fire brigade.

Houses and Homes KS 1
A half day morning visit which looks at how homes have changed through time with an interactive ‘hands on’ approach. The children will travel over the magic bridge and meet a character from the 1600’s to compare and contrast houses now and then. The children will take home some ‘wattle and daub’ panels that have been constructed during their visit using clay and willow.
