Key Stage Areas

Local History KS2
Visit this outstanding site and gain an understanding of how Staircase House reflects Stockport’s history. A ‘hands on’ approach in the morning is combined with an afternoon Town Trail Story around the Historic Market area.

The Great Fire of London KS1
An interactive half or full day session which enables the children to re-enact the events of the Fire of London within the house. Choose two of the following options to customise your afternoon visit: The History of Fire Marks, Stuart Cures and the Plague or Wattle and Daub – how houses were constructed many years ago. Coming soon - the history of the fire brigadeA photo of victorian clogs.

Houses and Homes KS1
A half day morning visit which looks at how homes have changed through time with an interactive ‘hands on’ approach. The children will travel over the wishing bridge and meet a character from the 1600’s to compare and contrast houses now and then. The children will take home some ‘wattle and daub’ panels that have been constructed during their visit using clay and willow.
