This fun and fantastic exhibition explores the wacky world of inventions and labour saving devices thought up by the imagination of people hoping to strike it rich with their creation. These are the inventions that didn’t quite make the grade! Come and delve into Maurice Collins’ bizarre collection and guess the obscure purpose of a host of eccentric contraptions. These gadgets and gizmos are certain to engage and amuse everyone, young and old.
Marvel at the ingenuity of the gadgets and find out how to make the perfect cuppa 1920’s style with a self-pouring tea pot! There’s even a young inventors competition so don’t miss out. |

Stockport Story Museum is proud to present photographs and studies of the little known world beneath our feet courtesy of Stockport Heritage Trust.
This unique collection of photographs explores the labyrinth of tunnels and networks that Stockport stands upon as well as explaining the uses of the tunnels throughout history.
Learn all about the thriving cotton industry powered by Stockport’s water tunnels, and the unique Air Raid Shelters which housed so many people during WWII.
This is a fantastic insight into a little known but greatly important part of Stockport’s heritage. |
